Kruptos Covert Channels
in Internet Protocols advanced research at the University of St Andrews School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews
David Llamas  David Llamas
Welcome to my website at the University of St Andrews.

My PhD project is called Kruptos and it is focused on information hiding techniques, such as covert channels and steganography, in the particular scenario of Internet protocols.

I am member of the Distributed Systems and Networks Research Group and the Centre for Privacy, Security and Trust at the University of St Andrews.

My director of studies is Dr Colin Allison and the second supervisor is Dr Alan Miller.

This work is clearly relevant to governments, defence administrations and intelligence agencies, as well as to all organisations that can be affected by academic or industrial espionage.

Kruptos is sponsored by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory - DSTL - a part of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom.

My research areas of interest are:
  • Information hiding systems: covert channels & steganography.
    • Detection and prevention of detection.
    • Disruption in high performance environments.
  • Communication architectures for collaborative swarm systems.
  • Architectures and protocols for communication networks.
  • Evolutionary computing: learning classifier systems.
